I have a medical microscope that produces around 2-10 TB of data (images) per day. I want to buy or configure a very powerful preprocessing machine to preprocess this daily data straight away then pass it to a storage/sharing server through a 10Gb cable. I wonder what is the best recommendations for a very powerful image processing machine that can process such big amount of data daily (hd, memory, GPUs, graphics, cpus,...)? It will probably be a Linux machine. Any advice please?

The one that confirms to the specs of whatever pre-processing you want to do. There isn't going to be a good answer for this as you don't have any details on what that pre-processing entails. Furthermore just asking for product recommendations is considered off-topic.– SethJan 13 at 10:44

Does this microscope just spit out giant images all day? What's the "pre-processing"? If you'll just be moving or uploading them somewhere why does it have to be "powerful", a router with a USB hard drive could handle that.– Xen2050Jan 13 at 10:52
   
@Xen2050 yes, it gives images all day totalling around 2TB of images on average every day. Preprocessing is applying heavy image processing algorithms on the captured images so that the images on the server will be ready for users to use straight away.– TakJan 13 at 11:00

Look at the specifics for that pre-processing and select hardware accordingly. That's really the best advice as it really depends on what you're doing. Going for 64 CPU cores might be way less favorable than having 6 Titan Whatever depending on what you#re doing. As only you know that ... well read the manual / talk to the one who implements the pre-processing about the requirements.– SethJan 13 at 11:07
