I've been working to create a basic HTML page with some simple online features (just experimenting, nothing serious). I'm using Nodejs and Socket.io for the data sharing in this project. I tested everything using an open port. Yeah, probably not the best idea.

I wasn't aware of the dangers of testing on an open port until after I realized there were multiple connections on the server and, well, there was only one me. I also realized that I was still connecting after I closed the server in the command prompt, despite refreshing multiple times. The freakiest thing was seeing the 'your location is being used' symbol flicker on and off a few times throughout, something that never happens.

My questions to you is what steps do I need to take? Am I in danger, or just crazy?
